The Rolan African Support Foundation (RASF) successfully hosted its 2025 Back-to-School Initiative on 9th August 2025 at Muskoseppi Park, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. This initiative is part of RASF’s mission to alleviate poverty and promote social inclusion , specifically under its thematic area of Educational Access and Reintegration. The program aimed to support African and other immigrant families , particularly those with low income or new immigrant
status, by providing essential school supplies.
The core goal was to ease the financial burden on parents and ensure children could start the new school year with dignity, confidence, and motivation to succeed.
The event was a significant success, directly serving children from families with school bags containing assorted supplies. The program reflected RASF’s inclusivity policy ,with beneficiaries coming from diverse backgrounds, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and others. The community impact was profound,
with families expressing relief, gratitude, and renewed hope.
Moving forward, RASF is committed to expanding the program to additional schools in Alberta , increasing the beneficiary reach and strengthening partnerships with local businesses and government agencies. The need for greater resources was highlighted by the high demand for the program. Our goal is to develop a sustainability plan to make the program long-term and scalable. The initiative stands as a major milestone in RASF’s commitment to educational empowerment and immigrant support, contributing to building resilient and confident communities.
