Abuja Vision Support Program – Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, Nigeria

March 24, 2026

Rolan Foundation successfully conducted the first location of the Abuja Vision Support Program in Gwagwalada Area Council, reaching hundreds of beneficiaries from various wards across the community.

In collaboration with the Nigerian Optometry Association (Abuja Chapter), the outreach provided comprehensive eye care services, including detailed eye examinations and vision screenings carried out by qualified optometrists.

For many beneficiaries, this marked their first eye care experience in years, and for some, their very first. Individuals facing challenges with poor vision and difficulty reading were assessed and provided with corrective eyeglasses, significantly improving their daily lives and overall wellbeing.

Beyond eye care, the outreach also incorporated blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, offering a more holistic approach to community health. These basic but essential checks helped identify underlying health concerns, with many participants undergoing such tests for the first time while also receiving guidance on the importance of regular health monitoring.

Beneficiaries also engaged in health education sessions focused on proper eye care and practical steps to maintain good vision, empowering them with knowledge to make informed health decisions.

The program was impactful and well received by the community, reflecting the urgent need for accessible healthcare services. This successful first location sets the tone for continued outreach across Abuja, as Rolan Foundation expands its efforts to improve access to essential healthcare and restore hope in underserved communities.
