Market Sanitation Awareness: A Route to Clean Ecosystem and Healthy Products in the Market
The Rolan Foundation hosted a Sanitation Awareness Event at Maitama Ultra-Modern Market, Kubwa, aimed at promoting healthier environments and safer communities.
The event brought together the Director of Water Quality Control and Sanitation Services, representatives from the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), NYSC members, market sanitation committees, traders, and our passionate Abuja volunteers.
Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on market cleanliness, proper food handling and storage, safe waste disposal, and the health risks associated with poor hygiene. Practical demonstrations on effective handwashing techniques further reinforced the global WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) message.
With the active involvement of government agencies, community leaders, and volunteers, the initiative went beyond awareness, empowering the market community to take ownership of their environment. This collective action highlighted the importance of sanitation in creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier marketplace.
