Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly diabetes and hypertension, continue to pose significant public health challenges in Nigeria. Many people, especially those in underserved communities, face barriers to accessing affordable medicines and quality healthcare, while health facilities often struggle with weak supply chains and limited resources to effectively manage chronic conditions.
To address these challenges, CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board), in partnership with Rolan Foundation, launched the Non-Communicable Disease Impact Initiative (NCDI) in Nigeria. The initiative is designed to improve access to affordable medicines for diabetes and hypertension, strengthen primary healthcare supply chains, reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients, and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
By strengthening healthcare systems and expanding access to essential medicines, the initiative will support healthcare providers in delivering more effective and consistent care for people living with non-communicable diseases. It also aims to improve the availability of life-saving treatments at the primary healthcare level, helping communities receive the care they need closer to home.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing equitable healthcare, strengthening primary healthcare systems, and ensuring that underserved communities have access to quality, affordable, and sustainable healthcare services across Nigeria.
