Abuja Vision Support Program – Garki (AMAC), FCT, Nigeria

March 28, 2026

The second phase of the Rolan Foundation’s Abuja Vision Support Program was held in Garki at the Sa’Peyi Palace, the official residence of the Chief of Garki, Abuja, bringing essential eye care services closer to the community.

In collaboration with the Nigerian Optometry Association (Abuja Chapter) and in partnership with the Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), the outreach reached hundreds of beneficiaries, providing access to professional eye examinations, distribution of eyeglasses, and eye drops for those in need.

Eye examinations were conducted by qualified optometrists, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality approach to community eye health.

For many beneficiaries, this outreach marked their first eye care experience in years, and for some, their very first. Individuals who had been struggling with poor vision and difficulty reading were assessed and provided with corrective eyeglasses, significantly improving their daily functionality and overall quality of life.

Beyond eye care services, the outreach also included blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, offering a more holistic approach to healthcare. These screenings helped identify underlying health concerns and raised awareness about the importance of routine health checks and early detection.

Beneficiaries also participated in informative health talks focused on proper eye care and practical steps to maintain good vision, equipping them with knowledge to better manage their eye health and overall wellbeing.

The presence of the Chief of Garki further underscored the importance of the initiative and strengthened community engagement. The program was impactful and well received, marking another significant step in expanding access to essential healthcare services across communities in Abuja.
